Natal Hypnotherapy
After using Hypnosis for the birth of her first son, Maggie left her career in international sales in the events and conference industry, and retrained as a clinical Hypnotherapist specialising in pregnancy and birth.
She developed the courses and CDs as a result of her research and hypnotherapy work with individual mothers and antenatal groups, as well as her own experiences of giving birth twice at home using the CDs.
The CDs are now sold globally via her internet. Maggie has also trained as a Doula under leading birth specialist and obstetrician, Michel Odent, and is an EFT practitioner (Emotional Freedom Technique – tapping acupressure points). About Maggie Howell
My initial interest in Hypnotherapy came from my husband who suggested that I use Hypnosis to help with the birth of our first child. I took a self Hypnosis course when I was 7 months pregnant and was amazed at the potential and power of "mind over matter" - I was able to stick a pin into my arm with no pain or bleeding! I then went on to write my own birthing script and practiced Hypnosis daily until the birth.
Joseph was born at home in a relaxed, cosy environment in which I felt completely in control and without the need for any additional pain relief. My midwife had never worked with anyone using Hypnosis (even though she had 8 years experience). She was so amazed at the effect that she has since gone on to learn more about it and promote the use of Hypnosis with other women.Having had such a calm, relaxed and comparatively easy birth, I was convinced that Hypnotherapy was a wonderful tool which could help so many others overcome their fear of birth and enable them to manage the physical sensations involved. Once Joseph was born I knew that I would not go back to my old career in sales and so decided to change tack and train to be a Hypnotherapist. I gave birth to our second son Toby James on November 27th 2002. I had a wonderful home birth, again benefiting immensely from the power of Hypnosis to have a relaxed and comfortable Birth. I have since qualified as a clinical Hypnotherapist, trained in EFT (emotional Freedom Technique) NLP and am a trained Doula (trained under Michel Odent). I currently work with midwives, antenatal groups and hospitals running relaxation and pain management workshops and classes and run 2 day intensive birth preparation courses.
